Careers Market Day Tues 6th August

Students at Tweed Heads South are dreaming big!

The highly successful Careers Market Day is on again at Tweed Heads South Public School on Tuesday 6th August (Term 3, Week 3) from 9-12 noon. Photos from the 2012 event can be viewed in Gallery.

Once again students and their parents/caregivers will have a unique opportunity to meet representatives from local organisations, businesses, TAFE and universities providing pathways for future directions.

This event has been an outstanding event in recent years and is now running in its third year at our school. With increased growth our school will host over 30 stallholders and provide more than 300 students from 6 local schools access to hand on, interactive and engaging information sessions and the ability to ask questions of people in varying careers and professions.

The excitement begins at 9am in the school hall with representation from career advisors, TAFE, universities and employment agencies. Talks will be followed by an informal question/answer session.

From 10-12 noon students will actively engage in 'hands on' activities, 'Try a Trade' as they visit each stallholder.

The school canteen will be open for drinks and snacks and the P&C will be running a $2 sausage sizzle. You can even indulge in a decent coffee from the Zarraffas Coffee Cart and feel good about it as profits from the day will go to the RSPCA charity!

Our annual Careers Market Day event provides students and parents with access and information to help them understand the relevance of their schooling experience. It serves as a dual purpose as it also develops meaningful partnerships with parents, the local community and schools.

So come along for a morning of fun and you just might learn something new!
