5/6T – Savvy Stockbrokers!
Students from 5/6T have donned business hats to play the stockmarket game. Joining schools Australia wide, trading has officially opened for The Australian Stock Exchange Schools Market Game. The class has been placed into ‘syndicates' with names such as ‘Money Spinners'. Each syndicate has received $50,000 of ‘virtual' money that they invest over a 10 week period, in companies listed on the ASX. The prices students buy and sell at are the same prices as they would get in the live market so this is as close to real life share trading as you can get!
Students are learning about how to investing in the share market, the economy and world events, how to research companies, the importance of wise investment decisions, teamwork and have the potential to win prizes based on the growth of their $50,000.
XO's have been used in class to research and keep up with the daily stock exchange, listen to expert tips, analyse share performance, create ASX ‘watchlists' and actual trading.
As part of Financial Literacy it is important for students to know how to manage money, build wealth and make good financial decisions. Learning more about investing is beneficial for their future. 5/6T students get to play this fun, engaging game without risking real money.
