Students in 5-6T have had fun learning how to code with the app ‘Hopscotch'. This award winning, educational app teaches you how to code to learn the fundamentals of programming. You can make your own games and publish them sharing your creations so anyone with an iPhone or iPad can play them.
Students made games like Angry Birds, pixel art, Geometry Dash, Flappy Bird and crazy things with emoji. Mrs Smith and Ms Toop demonstrated how the app works on the iPad and then students explored by themselves with help via tutorials.
In participating in these computer science learning activities 5-6T students are ‘creating' technology expressing themselves and enhance problem solving skills. Over the next 10 years programming will be one of the fastest growing occupations and programmers will be able to demand high salaries!
