Jump Rope for Heart visit 2016

Jump Rope for Heart

After Friday's assembly Katie from Jump Rope for Heart visited our school and talked to us about heart disease and how to keep fit and healthy by doing at least 1 hour exercise per day and eating the right foods and drink water.

Katie taught us a variety of games and skills including Single Jump, Double Over, Cross Over, Pretzel and with a partner you can do figure 8, Cat and Mouse, Double Dutch and Face to Face.  After the talk and demonstrations we went outside to practise the skills with skipping ropes donated to us by the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation.

If you volunteer to participate in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser day and donate money towards Jump Rope for Heart you can receive different prizes and by donating you can help people in need with heart disease and also help Australia's best scientists and doctors come together to make little machines to help people with heart disease.

Students from Tweed Heads South Public School have been skipping every day during 2nd break to keep fit and healthy, we have made our own games up including Teddy Bear, 123, Alphabet song, Alphabet Jump and Pepper, everyone is welcome to join in.

5/6 students with their new learnt skills will go out during breaks and teach our younger students these skills and tricks so we can all join in and help Jump Rope for Heart. With our parents/carers permission we will be practising at school then holding a ‘Jump Off' towards the end of term. So let's keep fit and enjoy the new skills that we have learnt.
