Last Wednesday students from Years 5 and 6 were extremely fortunate to participate in an afternoon Science lesson with Mr Rigby from TRHS. Students were put into groups and given the challenge of naming the planets in the Solar System and putting them in order of distance from the sun. The groups were also given a jar of different sized seeds to compare the size of the planets in relation to each other. After much stimulating conversation about the structure of the planets, teams ventured outside to step out a scaled down version of the solar system comparing the distance each planet is from the sun. Students could look back at the scaled down sun and get a feel for just how far away the distant planets really are in our solar system.
Thank you Mr Rigby
