Preschool Book Week

We launched book week at preschool by reading the story "The Gobbledygook is eating a Book". The children were then invited to create their own illustrations of a Gobbledygook that is "tearing the pages and eating a book!" We have also been investigating some traditional stories during literacy time and a favourite play experience has been to act out "Jack and the Beanstalk" on our class 'magic beanstalk'. We decided to plant our own beanstalks and have planted some climbing bean seeds in the garden under our te-pee frame. We are hoping to create an outdoor beanstalk castle to play in. We have also planted some bean seeds in cups that we can take home to plant in our gardens and when they are fully grown, we are hoping to pick some beans that our families can cook for dinner. Growing seeds has become a real interest for the children this term, so we will be completing a project on 'Growing Seeds'. We concluded bookweek on Wednesday by coming dressed as our favourite book character. We invited our families into preschool to play some literacy games with us, to watch our book character parade and we also performed "The Baa Baa Rap" for our familes on the outdoor stage in our garden.
