3/4MG have been learning about Australia. It is a very special country with some amazing National Heritage sites. We studied the Gwondana Rainforests, part of which includes Mt Warning and Springbrook National Park, Uluru, Kakadu National Park, Fraser Island and the Great Barrier Reef. These places are unique and must be protected so they can be passed on to the next generation.
We read stories and watched videos about the Great Barrier Reef. We discovered that the reef is so large it can be seen from outer space. It is home to over 1500 different types of fish species, 134 species of sharks and stingrays, is a feeding ground for endangered species such as the turtles and dugongs and is an important breeding area for humpback whales. We drew pictures about the Great Barrier Reef and discussed ways to protect this wonderful country of ours.
