The students in 3-4N are really enjoying their art sessions with Mr Nicholls and did an excellent job in colouring in portraits that emulate the work of Pablo Picasso.
Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain, in 1881. He became one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. Picasso is still well respected for his work today. His masterpieces are on display around the world as originals and prints. They are often seen in schools, universities and art galleries.
Visual Arts teachers from all over the world enjoy sharing their knowledge of Picasso's techniques with the students. Developing the students' artistic skills will ensure that they are provided with an opportunity to be creative and original with their artwork. This is how artists begin their journey to becoming recognised for their paintings and drawings. After two sessions of preparation Mr Nicholls gave the students in 3-4N the opportunity to attempt and complete their own original portraits using Picasso's techniques.
The students used curved and straight lines of varying thicknesses to draw an outline of their portrait. They chose their pastel colours carefully and shaded their backgrounds to blend in with their portraits. The quality of work from the class shows that the students prepared well and were very creative.
