NAIDOC WEEK 2013

Celebrating NAIDOC Week

At Tweed Heads South Public School Celebrating NAIDOC Week began with Preschool students entertaining the school with a dance routine called the Wombat Wobble and continued throughout the week in the forms of artwork, storytelling and dance.

Our NAIDOC Week assembly had our whole school gather with special guests including Aunty Kath Lena, Aunty Bukki, Jackie McDonald a life member of the AECG and the President of the AECG Deb Johnson.

Parents, community members, teachers and students were all entertained by our very own dance group, student presentations and the presentation of our weekly assembly awards.

In continuing the celebrations students had the chance to participate in a variety of activities throughout the morning including, listening to traditional stories from elders, learning traditional games and songs and making artworks inspired by traditional art.

The school was also entertained by traditional dancer Dennis Walker and one of the local dance groups who explained and demonstrated some traditional dances which the students were all eager to learn.
